Canada - Requirements Student Visa

To get a visa or permit to study in Canada you must meet their requirements for international students. The course you intend to undertake must also meet immigration department requirements, which from May 2010 includes overall IELTS bands of 6 or say 6.0

Offer of a place from Canada college

To get a student visa, you need to have an offer of a place from a Canadian education provider. The offer must include:
  • - the name of the course and the minimum time required for completing it, and 
  • - proof that the course and course provider meet Canada’s requirements for international students and if under SPP program then college should be under approved SPP program college list if filling from India Under SPP program,
    and 
  • - the amount of the fee for the complete course, or if the course is longer than one year, must be mentioned on Letter of Acceptance, 
    and
  • - whether you have to pay course fees and whether the fees are domestic or foreign fees,
    and
  • - whether you are studying full-time or part-time.


Evidence of funds to support yourself

To gain a student visa or permit they want to see that you are able to meet your tution & living costs during your stay.


Evidence may include:

  • - an undertaking by another person to cover your accommodation and living costs ,
  • - an undertaking by a Canada sponsor to cover your accommodation and living costs, or
  • - financial assistance/Education Loan covering 80% of your living and tution fee cost available to you.
  • - Note - Your family income should not be less then 7-10 CND $ per annum.
  • - Proof of fee paid in advance atleast for first 6 months.
