Skills Assessment

Before you can make a valid application for a skilled visa or one of the categories under the Employer Nomination Scheme you must have your skills assessed by a relevant assessing authority and obtain a positive Skills Assessment which is relevant to your nominated skilled occupation.
If you have overseas qualifications and for example, you are an engineer, then your skills assessment would be conducted by Engineers Australia. If you are a tradesperson such as a welder, hairdresser or electrician then your skills are assessed by Trades Recognition Australia. There are many different skills assessing authorities and for some occupations such as accountants you may have two or three authorities to choose from.
Some authorities may also take several weeks or even months to process your skills assessment making it very important that you ensure that you have allowed sufficient time to obtain your skills assessment. This is particularly critical for International Students applying onshore who may only have a 6 month time slot in which to action their skills assessment.
OCS-Consultants can assist with identifying the correct assessing authority and in preparing your application and submission for a suitable skills assessment.
