Australia - Fiancé Visa


300 - Fiancé Visa

This temporary visa is for a prospective marriage and allows you to come to Australia and marry your intended spouse. You will have a period of 9 months in which to get married. During these 9 months you have the right to travel and work.

There is no points test for this visa.

Main Criteria

The main criteria for this visa are;
  1. - Your fiancé (e) must be either an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
  2. - You must be able to legally marry according to Australian law i.e. you are both aged 18 or over, and not married to anyone else.
  3. - You must be of the opposite sex to your intended spouse
  4. - You must have met each other personally as adults (even if it is an arranged marriage).
  5. - You must be in an exclusive, genuine and continuing relationship.
  6. - You have a genuine intention to marry in Australia and live together as husband and wife.
  7. - You must meet health and character requirements.
  8. - You may need to provide an Assurance of Support.
This visa can only be lodged outside of Australia – the applicant must be outside Australia when the application is lodged and the visa is granted. Processing times will vary from country to country but usually take about 6 months.
