165 - State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional)
Investor (Provisional) is for investors/business people who have an overall successful record of business or investment activities, have significant net assets, are willing to invest funds in a designated investment in Australia for four years and have a genuine commitment to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants in this category may be sponsored by a state/territory government.
There is no points test for this visa.

Main Criteria

  • - You are less than 55 years old unless exceptional circumstances exist at time of application
  • - You have an overall successful business record of investment or qualifying business activity
  • - You are sponsored by a State or Territory government and intend to live in that State or Territory for a minimum of 2 years
  • - You have more than 3 years experience in the direct involvement in managing a qualifying business or an eligible investment
  • - For at least 1 of the 5 fiscal years immediately before your application you have maintained a direct involvement in managing a qualifying business in which you had an ownership interest of at least 10% of the total value of the business: OR
  • - You have maintained direct involvement in managing eligible investments where the total net value was at least A$750,000.
  • - For the 2 fiscal years before your application the net value of your (or your and your spouse's combined) assets was at least A$1,125,000
  • - You have demonstrated a high level of management skill in relation to an eligible investment or qualifying business activity
  • - You are prepare to make a designated investment of A$750,000 in a State’s Treasury Bonds for a period of 4 years
  • - You have no history of unacceptable business activities

You must have a genuine and realistic commitment to continue to maintain a business or investment activity in Australia after your 4 year investment has matured
