160 - Business Owner (Provisional)



Business Owner (Provisional) is for people who have an overall successful business career which includes senior management or ownership. You must have significant business assets and be prepared to participate as a principal in the management of a new or existing business.

There is no points test for this visa.

Main Criteria

- You must be less than 45 years old at time of application.
You must have:
- vocational level English
- an overall successful business career
- for at least 2 out of the last 4 fiscal years you have;
(1) significant net business assets of at least A$200,000 in a qualifying business AND
(2) if the business was a publicly listed company then your shareholding was at least 10% of the total issued capital of the business;
- significant business and personal assets (A$500,000)
- sufficient net assets to settle in Australia
- achieved a significant annual turnover in your business (A$500,000 for at least 2 of the last 4 fiscal years)
- no history of unacceptable business activities

You must also show that you have a realistic commitment to either establish a business in Australia or to participate in an existing business in Australia. You must show that you intend to maintain a substantial ownership interest in that business and to maintain direct and continuous involvement in management of that business.
